Asperger’s disease is a mild form of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The persons having Asperger’s disease are isolated and face difficulty in communication in their early years or childhood. Their speech sounds peculiar and they are somewhat clumsy. The children with this syndrome often have narrow interests. A child might have an interest in cars stamps or history. They may excel in the area of their interest as they grow. The Asperger syndrome was first diagnosed by an Austrian physician Hans Asperger who published a paper after studying it in four children. He attributed the syndrome to some genetic defects coming from fathers but it is not yet proved by genetic engineering. In some cases the syndrome was reported to be caused during first eight weeks of pregnancy due to some foods or vaccinations.

The Asperger’s disease is usually diagnosed in children of 4-11. Some doctors wrongly attribute the disease to be attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome.

The syndrome can be managed to some extent as no known effective treatment is available yet. The parents of affected children can manage their kids by educating them and diversifying their interests. Doctors often recommend therapies at early age to develop communication skills. Vocational training is also helpful. The studies show that approximately twenty percent children overcome this syndrome naturally perhaps self confidence plays an important part. Some interventions are also recommended for children that become hyper some medicines are helpful but attentive love and care play the most important role in managing the Asperger’s disease.
