Barbara Taylor Bradford

Barbara Taylor Bradford is a renowned English Novelist. She has written 24 novels so far, which are all bestselling, with A Woman of Substance on top of the list. Barbara was born in Leeds, Yorkshire on May 10, 1933 to the family of Winston Taylor and Freda Taylor as their only child. Barbara was brought up in Armley and attended various schools like Northcote School for Girls and Town Street Church, England, for her education and eventually joined journalism. She initially worked for Yorkshire Evening News as a typist. Afterwards she worked as a columnist and editor for Fleet Street where she was responsible for London Eve News. She also worked for a women magazine ‘Women’s Own’ as a fashion editor at the age of twenty. Barbara has stated that she was inspired by her mother the most who was nanny and children nurse and her hobby was book reading. She introduced the Barbara with book reading. Barbara recalls that she had read almost all the books of Brontes and Dickens by an age of 12.

So far Barbara has written 24 novels; more than 80 million of copies of her books have been sold internationally in almost 90 countries and in 40 different languages. Some of her books are the theme of some television movies and mini-series. Bradford is considered to be the riches writer who is alive. Her assets are being reported over GBP 145, thus making her amongst the richest woman in Great Britain. According to a UK journal’s report of 2009, she has been reported as the 31st richest woman in UK with a wealth at about GBP 166 million. Now she has become a celebrated woman author in UK.
