Carolina Chocolate Drops
One of the few music bands which specialize in playing the African American strings is known as Carolina Chocolate Drops.
The music band Carolina Chocolate Drops was created in the annum ’05 by three friends with the aim to re unite the African and American tunes and bring peace and harmony among the two nations. The Africans being black have always been belittled in the society by the Americans. To raise their status and to make the Americans realize that African culture is as rich and colorful as theirs and once the music by the two blends, amazing music is born. The hidden message was that the two nations must cooperate with each other and this is the way, they can become more successful.
The three band members include Justin Robinson, Rhiannon Giddens and Don Flemons. Justin Robinson plays fiddle, jug, banjo and beat box; Rhiannon Giddens is known for fiddle, banjo with five strings and kazoo; and Don Flemons is known for playing kazoo, banjo with four strings, jug, bones, guitar, snare drum and harmonica. The band Carolina Chocolate Drops, combines the old African fiddle and the traditional South Carolina music to give rise to a new form of music. So far five albums have been released by the music band named Heritage, Genuine Negro Jog, Dona Got a Ramblin Mind, Joe Thompson and The Carolina Chocolate Drops and The Great Debaters Soundtrack. The band made recent performance of the Independence Day show and on a show of BBC radio named Fresh Air.
