Chile World Cup Expulsion

The Chile side could be on their way back home in any of the planes scheduled to leave for South America in a day or two. The South Americans could be dislodged from the FIFA World Cup 2009, except that the Chilean Rangers club withdraw the case that they filed by max December 3rd. The Rangers squad has challenged its disproved promotion to the second stages of the NSL.

The managing body of the entire South American soccer in Conmebol stated Thursday that they had come to know about the possible coercive measures that could be faced.

Three points were taken off from the Club’s scoreboard as they had recruited six foreign players in the team whereas the limit is only of five. These three points have become a hurdle in their way as they cannot advance to the second division now, and during the last week the team made it way into the court rooms.

Chile has not been a part of the World Cup since 1998 is among the five South American teams that have been selected for next year’s South African contest. Other qualifiers include Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay.

The playoffs which were conducted before the season started have been cancelled by the Chile League under the influence of the Rangers.

Harold Mayne Nicholls, First Man of the Chilean football federation stated in an interview on radio Agricultura that if the Rangers did not withdraw the case it could result in the expulsion of Chile’s national team, as a club cannot be kicked out by FIFA, this could certainly prove to be fatal for the South American nation’s football interests.
