Donnie Darko

Donnie Darko is one of those movie flicks that fall very close in line with the theme of Final Destination where a certain particular individual has these visions of the world coming to its end. It is either the world coming to an end or some particular individual who is about to meet his or her last. The main character in Donnie Darko is played by Jake Gyllenhaal as the troubled teenage male whose family thinks he is whacked and is in need of some serious mental / psycho therapy.

The trouble with Donnie Darko is not that he is whacked out of his mind, but rather just happens to be teenage boy with special gifted qualities of not being able to warm back and forth through the dimensions of time but also to see events before they actually happen in real life. And the visions that Donnie Darko experiences are relayed to him through the means of a shady figure that keeps concealed behind a bunny’s attire.

The bunny – Frank – is the darker being in the world of weird individuals. Another “weird” character you will get to see in Donnie Darko is Roberta Sparrow (played by Patience Cleveland). Roberta is continually referred to as Grandma Death by everyone who knows her because the frail old woman is literally on the verge of expiration but still keeps waiting for some sort of mail from an unidentified source.

All in all, Donnie Darko is a flick that definitely tickles the viewer’s imagination sensors.
