Elvis Dumervil
Starting as linebacker for the Denver Broncos of NFL, Elvis Cornelius Dumervil was born on 19th January, 1984 in Miami, Florida. Dumervil was inducted by the Broncos during the 2006 NFL Draft with the 4th round in progress. He took part in college football at Louisville. Being included in the top 25 defensive ends according to most publications he had a career of 78 sacks at Jackson High School.
Initiating his college career tardily, Dumervil was an average contributor in his first two seasons at the University of Louisville; adding only 28 tackles and two sacks. John L. Smith’s faculty had planned on sending him back to the bleachers in the 2002 season, but injuries of other players and a poor game play performance by the defensive line shoved him back into the game.
E.Dumervil made an awesome comeback in the 2004 season as a junior, making 10 sacks and 11 tackles for only one loss. The 2005 season was one of the best Elvis in both NCAA and school history, when he topped the NCAA single-game 6 sack record in a match against competitors the University of Kentucky, also breaking the NCAA record for forced fumbles. He also headlined the sack total of Big East record set by Dwight Freeney, a player that Elvis desired to emulate. During the 2005 season, he gained awards like Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Ted Hendricks Award, Big East player of the year, and First-team All-American.
Recruited in the Denver Broncos during year 2006, Dumervil spent little time on the field. Later in the season he got a chance to show his skills concluding the year with 8.5 sacks in 13 matches. In the 2007 season Elvis would lead the Broncos and be listed among league leaders with 12.5 sacks.
With Josh McDaniels becoming the Broncos coach in the 2009 season, coordinator for team defense Mike Nolan changed Dumervil to the position of an outside linebacker in his 3-4 defensive strategies, but keeping him as a defensive end on 4-3 in a passing down situations. After the first four games, again Elvis Dumervil was leveled for the league lead for sacks.
