Ezra Merkin

Jacob Ezra Merkin was in 1954. He is an American financier, philanthropist and money manager. He resigned on 9th of January 2009 when he was serving as the Non-executive chairman of GMAC (General Motors Acceptance Corporation). U.S. government insisted him for resignation. He is also general partner of Gabriel Capital LP ($5 billion family of hedge funds).

He is found involved in civil fraud (6th of April 2009) with the State of New York for secretly steering $2.4 billion in client money.

J. Ezra Merkin’s father name is Hermann Merkin. He was a prominent banker, author and philanthropist. Ursula Merkin was her sister and he has four children.

He attended Upper East Side Modern Orthodox prep school in Israel, Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He also worked in a law firm but in early of 1980s he moved to his father’s business where he worked as analyst in 1988 (Wall Street finance).
