Fabulist

In modern era which may also be called ‘the world of new technology’, there are thousands of words either recycled or modified to suit the time and meaning. In fast running life we do not have time to look up new words in dictionaries thinking that these words are like an alien. At the moment many people are looking for one such word fabulist in dictionaries or online websites to find real and authenticate meaning.

The word fabulist is used for the authors or writer of “fables” which means terse stories written with an intention to impart moral education or lesions to do something good for society or people. These succinct stories play a vital role to encourage people to lead a good life and thank “The Almighty God” for what they have been bestowed with. Fable has been derived from Latin language which means speak little. These days the word fabulous is being used with a different sense like excellent and legendry which also is the result of fables.

There are a lot of writers who have been termed as fabulist; maybe divided as classic fabulists or modern fabulists.

Classic writers include Phaedrus; a famous Roman author was termed as Roman fabulist and was a Macedonian by birth, Gaius Julius Hyginus, who was a Latin writer and was called a fabulist. In addition to these, there are some other fabulists like Aesop, Bidpai and Vishnu Sharma.

Modern writers include George Ade, Ambrose Bierce, Felix Salten, Sholen Aleichem, George Orwell and James Thurber etc.
