Giants Stadium Demolition
Giants Stadium demolition is currently in progress. The reason for Giants Stadium demolition is the development of a new stadium. Giants stadium was meant for the home stadium for the New York Giants. The stadium is located at East Rutherford, New Jersey. The seating capacity of the stadium is around 80,000. The architect behind Giants Stadium is HNTB Corporation and the construction cost was a little above $75 million. The stadium is owned by New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.
Giant Stadium was built in 1972 and it was opened for the first match in 1976 for a football game between New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys which Giants lost. The last game was played on January 3, 2010 between The Jets and the Cincinnati Bengals which The Jets won by 37-0. In between there were a lot of games played in the Giants stadium including pro football games, college football games, New Jersey high school football games. Giant stadium was remembered as seven FIFA world cup 1994 games were played in this stadium.
Several concerts were being organized at the Giants Stadium by many renowned artists including The Eagles, Madonna, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Elton John, Bon Jovi, U2 and many more. A few shots of the stadium were also taken into the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still.
With the Giants Stadium Demolition another chapter of greater memories will be closed. However, we can expect another great stadium in place of the Giant Stadium standing high at the place of Giant Stadium keeping all the memories under it.
