Gotthard base tunnel

We can define tunnel as a way which crosses the mountainous area for the crossing of transport inside the hills. There may be small or large tunnels everywhere in the world.

Gotthard base tunnel is under construction way for the use of Railway transportation. This particular tunnel is situated in Switzerland, which is in two parts. One is 57km and the other is 96.5 km. Gotthard base tunnel will be operate to maximize the distance of trains. It is the World longest tunnel which will complete within shortest time in compared to the other tunnels constructed.

It is a project of Swiss Alp Transit project .It will cross the beautiful area of Alps NRLA and passes through the Lötschberg Base Tunnel between the cantons of Berne and Valais. It will be the high speed train track which will use to save the time and energy. On the other hand it will operate goods from one to the other area to enhance the income of the government treasury. The speed of train will save the time of one hour between the two cities of Milan and Zurich.

Its construction speed of the Gotthard base tunnel was managed to complete it in 2015.But it will delay and is expected to complete before 2018, the reason is the first part of tunnel which was expected to be used for operation has been delay because of breakthrough and now although the work on the project is in operation with full speed but it is expected to be complete in 2017.

Italian government is operating passenger trains on some part of the tunnel. Such tunnels are already working in the area for the operation of Rail and road transport.
