GTE Federal Credit Union

Around after three years when a prime corner lot was bought by SunTrust Bank in Midtown with a plan of long promised to build the 1st bank in the neighborhood, now in the same street another financial institution is planning to open its branch. Now in the start of this month GTE Federal Credit Union which is a Tampa based union forwarded a letter in which they have shown interest in the lot of city owned situated on the southeast corner at 18th Avenue and 22nd street. Monetary offer is included in this letter.

Other companies are also being offered by the city to present their offers till Wednesday. If they did not receive any other offer then the bid of the union will be considered, said by the director of the real estate Bruce Griimes. GTE Federal Credit Union’s marketing vice president Dough Richardson told the media that they have a plan to make the building a 3,000 square feet branch with full services.

He further said that this location was under consideration by the GTE for many years. In St. Petersburg, GTE has another branch at 4584 38th Avenue N with so many outposts through out the county. A plan has been submitted to the city on the northwest corner portraying a lot for small building including a parking space for 50 cars and five banking terminals of drive through.

SunTrust had paid around USD $500,000 on the southwest corner for a grassy lot of the intersection in 2006. But since then this lot is vacant.
