Haiti Earthquake Disaster

With the start of 2010, Haiti earthquake disaster has shaken the world. Haiti earthquake disaster has inflicted boundless losses of life and property. The whole country has been devastated but its capital Port-au-Prince has almost destroyed by Haiti earthquake disaster. The monster earthquake hit the poor country on 12th January, 2010 measuring a magnitude of 7.0 on the Rector Scale. Since that day, the people of Haiti have been in a state of despair and distress. During the past two weeks, around thirty aftershocks have also shocked them. Some of these aftershocks have been recorded having a magnitude of 6.o on Rector Scale.

Haiti has been a victim of civil war for the past few years. In order to improve law and order in the country, UN peacekeeping force has been deployed there. Besides, it is a poor country; therefore, the people find it very hard to make their both ends meet. The huge earthquake has further deteriorated their living conditions. The

human loss caused by this natural disaster has touched the alarming figures of 200,000, and it is still feared that the death toll may increase in coming days. Similarly, the collateral loss is also estimated in billions of dollars. Almost all the infrastructure of the country has to be rebuilt again. The buildings, roads etc. have received irreparable damage.

The world community has already started the relief operation. However, the relief work has not yet attained the required pace. The philanthropist organizations are collecting donations and relief goods for their Haitian brothers. People from all walks of life have joined hands to lessen the grief of the people of Haiti. The dignitaries from the world are visiting the earthquake stricken country in order to share their help and feelings with the poor people of Haiti.
