Hildegard Behrens

Hildegard Behrens has died at the age of 72. She was one of the best performers in the past and died during travelling in Japan it was told by the Metropolitan Opera’s administrator in New York Jonathan Friend in an email to the officials of Opera on Tuesday that Hildegard Behrens was not feeling well when she was travelling to a festival conducted near Tokyo.

Hildegard Behrens was taken to the hospital in Tokyo but could not survive and died of an apparent aneurism. The funeral of Behrens has been planned in Vienna. She was planned to perform in Japan at a music festival and lessons given by her at hot springs resort were also in the schedule, said by the organizers of the Hildegard Behrens visit to Japan.

One of the officials of Kanshinetsu Music Association Miyuki Takebayashi said that Hildegard Behrens was taken to the hospital in Tokyo on Sunday night were she died on Tuesday. Her daughter and son were also in the hospital beside her when she passed away, said by Miyuki Takebayashi. A professional career of around thirty has been spent by Behrens on Opera stage where she was among one of the finest stage actors.

Hildegard Behrens started her professional career in Freiburg in 1971 by playing a role of countess in Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” but made her debut with Metropolitan Opera in 1976 in “II Tabarro” of Puccini. Hildegard Behrens was born in Varel Oldenburg which is a north German town. She completed her graduation from the University of Freiburg in law.
