Joey Gallo

When you look at individuals like Al Capone and Joey Gallo, you cant help but realize the truth behind William Cooper’s words when he said, “Nobody wakes up in the morning planning to do evil during the day, everyone wakes up to do the right thing. They just happen to have the talent of rationalizing their wrong action into good deeds” The same could very well be applicable to the life of Joey Gallo.

Born on the 7th of April in the year 1929, Joe Gallo would “rule” the streets of New York. Over his career as a con, he earned the names of Joey, “Joe the Blond”, “The Criminal” and “Crazy Joe”.

The man led both a thriving and estranged life. He got married thrice in his life, his first two wives being the same woman – an individual identified only as Jeffie would marry him again after divorcing him once. It is not clear how many children were born out of this union. But Joey Gallo did take his other wife, Sina Essary’s 10

year old daughter under his shelter. His union with Sina would not even last 1 month as the gangster was shot down by then.

His prominent known accomplices were his two brothers – Albert ‘Kid Blast’ and Lawrence Gallo. Peter “Pete the Greek” Diapoulas was his trusted armament who was also by his side at the time Joey Gallo was killed. Other members who completed Gallo’s entourage included Vic Amuso, Frank “Punchy” Illiano and Nicholas Bianco.

Joey Gallo was murdered at a relatively young age of 43 and served as the inspiration for Bob Dylan’s 1976 creation titled ‘Joey’.
