Marlo Thomas

Margaret Julia (Marlo) Thomas, an American actress, achieved her first fame in 1960s on ‘That Girl’ a television series. She was born in Detroit (Michigan, USA) on November 21, 1937 and graduated with a ‘teaching degree’ from ‘University of Southern California’.

Thomas started her professional career with a regular appearance on ‘The Joey Bishop Show from 1961 to 1962. This was followed by her starring as guest on ‘Ben Casey’, ‘The Many Loves of Dobie Gills’, ‘Bonanza’ and ‘My Favorite Martian’. However her popularity began from her appearance on ABC’s ‘That Girl’ as Ann Marie in 1966. She continued with series until 1971 earning a ‘Golden Globe Award’ and ‘Emmy’ nominations for four times. Thomas was involved in production of ‘Free to Be….You and Me” a television special as well as record album.

She appeared in television movies as well like ‘It Happened One Christmas’ in 1977, ‘Nobody’s Child’ in 1986 and ‘The Lost Honor of Kathryn Beck’ in 1984. She also starred on big screen including The Thieves in 1977 and Jenny in 1970.

The Broadway’s theatrical performances of Thomas include Thieves, Social Security and ‘The Shadow Box’. In addition to this, she also worked for other theatres as well.

She also gained familiarity for various children books and various recordings as well as the television specials in combination with them. Thomas is donating the royalties of her book and a CD ‘Thanks and Giving: All Year Long’ to a research hospital in Tennessee which was started by her father (late) and it helps the needy children for ‘grave forms’ of disease like leukemia and cancer. She has also continued her inheritance of charity through the publication of both volumes of ‘The Right Words at the Right Time’.

She has been a regular contributor for a website ‘wowOwow.com’ which is aimed at women’s talk about politics, gossip and culture.
