Martin Luther King Jr is regarded as the great civil rights activist in the western society. Martin Luther King Jr believed in the equality of civil rights for all human beings irrespective of color, creed and belief. He advocated this aspiration with all his abilities. When he grew up, Martin Luther King Jr was very much upset due to the discrimination of black people due to their color. So he decided to face this challenge and tried to make the people realize that all human beings are equal and discrimination of a nation or race on the basis of color is unjustified and illegal. In order to achieve his goal, he started his effort by collecting people and carrying out demonstrations and processions again this injustice.
Martin Luther King Jr was brought up in a religion family because not only his father but grandfather was also a clergyman. Since religion does not discriminate people on the basis of their color, so he had this inner feeling to remove such injustice norms and customs from the society. He was born on 15th January 1929 in
Atlanta, USA. After his graduation, he also served as a co-pastor. He married Coretta Scott from Boston. He had four children, two daughters and two sons.
As an advocate for equal civil rights, Martin Luther King Jr was elected as President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in the year 1957. This organization was set up to promote the right of civil rights for every man. For this cause, he traveled all the states of the USA and tried to convince the people to help him in attaining his goal. His efforts were not only acknowledged by the people of USA but also by the whole world. In recognition thereof, he was awarded Noble Peace Prize. However, he was assassinated on 4th April, 1968.
