Melba Moore
Melba Moore, actress and prolific R&B singer of the United States, was born on 29th of October 1945 in New York City, New York with a birth name Beatrice Melba Hill. Teddy Hill (saxophonist) was the father of Moore and Bonnie Davis (R&B singer) was her mother. She spent her childhood in the area of Harlem, New York with her mother but as she reached the age of 9, her mother married again to Clement Moorman who was a jazz pianist.
Melba Moore completed her high school education from “Newark Arts High School” which is situated in Newark, New Jersey. Her mother was a popular R&B singer of her age and before the birth of Melba Moore, one of her songs “Don’t Stop Now” got much popularity among her fans and managed to reach to the number 1 position on the country charts.
Melba Moore started her professional career being a teacher after completing her graduation but soon she realized that she can not continue in the same field and decided to change her career by entering into the showbiz industry.
Melba Moore is the stage name of this great actress which was chosen by her by shortening the surname of her stepfather (Moorman) and by using the middle part of her name (Melba).
The performing career of the Melba Moore was started in 1967 when Diane Keaton was replaced by Melba Moore in the character of Sheila and it was also the very first time in the history that a white actor was replaced by any black actor.
