According to the updated operating status of the OPM (Office of Personal Management), Federal Government will remain close today on 9th of February 2010 on Tuesday. This announcement was made not because of reducing budget but obviously because the high snowfall has been forecasted in the area of Washington DC for Tuesday.

This weather forecast was made after some days of heavy storm of snow when the capital of the United States was blanketed due to the high snowfall. The meaning of the announcement of OPM is that all the agencies that worked under the jurisdiction of Federal Government in the area of Washington DC will remain close today on Tuesday i.e. 9th of February 2010.

An excused absence will also be given to the nonemergency employees of the Federal Government for some hours in which they had to work according to the schedule except for those employees who are on their without pay annual leaves like comp workers, military duty, suspension or on any other status of non-pay leaves.

Employees that work in Emergency or Telework departments will not be benefited with this announcement and they will be on their duties as normal and all the Emergency employees will report on time to their duties. This announcement was made by OPM (Office of Personal Management) several hours ago on Monday at around 6:00 pm.

This announcement was made by the website of OPM. It is also stated in this announcement that operating status of the OPM will be pending for Tuesday. But other part of the official website of OPM will not be functioning just because of heavy load of visitors to their website that visit them to get the latest updates about any news of Federal Government.
