Peter Townsend

Peter Townsend is well known by his complete name as Peter Dennis Blandford ‘Pete’ Townshend. He was born on 19th May, 1945 in London, England. He is a great Musician, Vocalist, Guitarist, Song writer, Author and Philanthropist. He was expert in Rock, pop rock, hard rock and art rock. He started his career from “THE WHO” (English rock band established in 1964). He was a special song writer and wrote 100 songs for “THE WHO”. His writing was included in top albums including “Concept Albums”, “Quadrophenia” and “Rock Operas Tommy”. He also proved his expertise in Guitar, bass, vocals, drums, harmonica, keyboards, mandolin and banjo. He was also a great article writer and he wrote for numerous magazine and newspapers. In the survey of “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Times” “Rolling Stone” magazine honored and listed Peter Townsend at No. 50.

Peter Townsend belonged to a musical family. His father was a Saxophonist and his mother nee Dennis was a famous singer. He married in 1968 to Karen Astley but he divorced her in 2000. From Karen Astley he has 3 children Emma, Joseph and Aminta.

Peter Townsend also contributed in live charity shows and helped the deserving. He also conducted numerous “Live Aid” show with “THE WHO”.
