Sammy Sosa Bleached

First there was Sammy Sosa who was always in the lime light for his powerful hitting and unheard of heroic feats and accomplishments as a baseball player. But lately, it seems, the “light” from lime light has found a permanent “residence” on his face. The legendary professional’s new skin & eye color and his straightened flatter hair are drawing both controversy and support towards him.

At the recent Latin Grammy honor ceremonial, Sammy Sosa was seen looking a lot more “whiter and lighter” than ever before. In an attempt to garnish off accusations that he is trying to rid himself off his black heritage & ancestry from the Dominican Republic, the former Cubs star said the lightened skin tone was an after effect of a face ointment he uses as a skin softener. The MLB record holder also added that the change had caught him off guard and he was shocked himself. His assertion is supported & validated by ex colleague Rebecca Polihronis. According to Polihronis, the baseball great is experiencing a common biological phenomenon known as “skin rejuvenation”.

For some, the above said can be digestible. For others, it offers the stage for slamming the former Cub with racial slander and allegations. One of his fans, who hails from the Dominican Republic as well, said their countries’ culture promotes and provokes its natives to denounce and get rid of any signs of their African inheritance.

Maybe it’s hard to absorb the situation. But if Sammy Sosa is really attempting to change his race, he might be going the extra mile Michael Jackson didn’t – wearing green contacts!
