Slaughterhouse Five

Slaughterhouse-Five is a film adaption of a novel with the same name by Kurt Vonnegut. This is 1972 awarding-winning film. The film was produced by Paul Monash and directed by George Roy Hill. The film was written by (novel) Kurt Vonnegut, screenplay was edited by Stephen Geller and music was given by Glenn Gould. The film was released in United States on March 15, 1972 with a running time of 104 minutes in English Language. The film stars Ron Leibman, Valerie Perrine and Michael Sacks where as it features Sharon Gans, Perry King, Eugene Roche and Holly Near. Some scenes were entirely filmed in Prague whereas others were in Minnesota.

This film follows novel in the presentation of a first person narrative from a point of view of ‘Billy Pilgrim’. Billy experiences some events of life in a random order and becomes unstuck in time. Here a specific emphasis has been place on his self experiences during the World War II which included the Dresden’s bombing in World War II and the time which was spent with Edgar Derby, fellow war prisoners and Paul Lazzaro, a psychopathic. His life has been depicted as the father of Robert and Barbara and a husband of Valencia as they all live and enjoy their life in Ilium (New York). A sink or swim scene with father of Pilgrim has been featured as well.

At 1972 ‘Cannes Film Festival’, the films won ‘Prix du Jury’ award. The film also won Saturn and Hugo Awards.
