Smokin Aces

“Smokin Aces” is a drama film based on the story of a crime. It was released in 2006. Joe Carnahan was the director and writer of this drama film. Its set was placed in Lake Tahoe and main part of the shooting was done at “MontBlue Resort Casino & Spa” whose name had been changed intentionally in this film as “Nomad Casino”. It was the third feature film of the Joe Carnahan.

The other two feature films of the Carnahan were “Narc” and “Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane”. Ryan Reynolds and Jeremy Piven played the roles of main character for the “Smokin Aces”. Piven who was shown as a magician of Las Vegas but he turned himself as an informant of the mafia group. Ryan Reynolds played the role of an FBI agent whose main task was to protect Piven.

This feature film converted into the debut film for both rapper “Common” and “Alicia Keys”, the artist of R&B. The gross earning of this feature film “Smokin Aces” was USD $14,638,755 after just first weekend of the

opening of the film. This drama film was released in 2,218 theaters and average earning of each theater was USD $6,599.

Overall earning of the film in the market of United States only was USD $35,662,731 and outside the market of the United States, it was USD $18,878,474. Therefore overall total earning of the film “Smokin Aces” in and outside the market of the United States was USD $54,541,205. DVD copies of the film sold successfully. DVD released of the film was made on 17 of April 2007 and overall 1,853,397 copies of the DVD were sold out that generated income of USD $35,714,831.
