Stephanie Spielman

After triumphing over breast cancer for four times, Stephanie Spielman has succumbed to the treacherous ailment. The beloved wife of former Detroit Lions’ linebacker Chris Spielman, Stephanie Spielman shut her eyes from this mortal world forever on the 19th of November, ’09.

Mr. and Mrs. Spielman became aware of Stephanie Spielman’s condition when she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time almost a decade ago in ’98. Being the dedicated and loving family man he is known to be, Chris Spielman took a whole year off from his National Football League career to be at his wife’s side and near to his children in the Spielman family’s testing moments. The resilient Stephanie Spielman never lost hope or courage even when the relentless cancer kept returning continuously.

Chris and Stephanie Spielman became proactively involved in not just raising awareness for the disease but also towards raising endowments that could help in finding a possible remedy for it.

The couple’s contributions were prominently highlighted and recognized by Dr. Michael Caligiuri, James Cancer Hospital’s CEO. Terming Stephanie a champion, Dr. Caligiuri stated she would never be forgotten for her contributions.

Credited for launching the ‘Stephanie’s Champions’ program, she is also the founder of the ‘Stephanie Spielman fund for Breast Cancer Research’ and very successfully accumulated more than 6 million dollars for the James Cancer Hospital.

The pliant Stephanie Spielman is survived by her affectionate husband Chris, the couples’ brood of four – Audrey, Noah, Macy and Madison, her siblings and mother. After battling breast cancer for 12 years, Stephanie Spielman breathed her last at the age of 42.
