Tom Brokaw

Tom Brokaw has a lot of reasons to be feeling lucky right now after both he and his wife, Meredith Brokaw, were able to make it out of their vehicle without a single scratch (literally) in what was an extremely close call for the couple. But then also, the experienced NBC anchor has reasons to be regretful and saddened at the cost of him and his wife staying alive – the breaths and years of another human being.

As Mr. and Mrs. Brokaw were driving along Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx vicinity of New York, he saw a bobbin of wire cables rebound in the distant right lane. As the coil of wires rolled down, a SUV bound towards the reel spontaneously swerved into its neighboring left lane which was accommodating a mail truck at the same time. In an attempt to keep his truck and the SUV from colliding, the mailman veered from his lane (the middle path) onto his left. Taken in by all the commotion, Tom Brokaw changed directions into the middle lane and rammed into the SUV.

The SUV’s driver, 30 year old Suejaes Estrada, was yanked out of her vehicle by the impact and hurled over the side of the Expressway, dropping a dark 40 feet before breathing her last. The Brokaws were extremely dismayed by the whole incident. No body caught in the whole ordeal was charged.

It is not clear whether Suejaes had ignored proper driving protocol and ignored wearing the seatbelt. She leaves behind a heart broken boyfriend.
