WPDH

WPDH is typically a rock music player radio station. It is a licensed radio station that serves the people from Catskills and Hudson Valley of New York to extreme Northern areas of the New Jersey. It is licensed in New York to Poughkeepsie. Cumulus Media was the owner of this radio station. It broadcasts its transmission at 4.4 kilowatts on 101.5 MHz from a tower which is located in Highland, New York and Illinois Mountain.

The rock-and-roll format was adopted by this radio station in 1976 and they changed this format several times. There are only four FM radio stations having Class B and WPDH is one of these radio stations. The names of the other three radio stations are WFGB, WHUD and WSPK that are located between Albany and New York City.

WPDA 106.1 is the satellite station of WPDH which helps to bring the signals of this radio station to the outer areas. It is located in Jeffersonville, New York. Being a sister radio station to the WEOK and second FM radio station of the Poughkeepsie (name of the first radio station was WKIP-FM which is known today as WSPK), WPDH was signed in 1962 as WEOK-FM.

The basic aim to form this radio station was to provide the programming of “Muzak” through its sub-carrier to the businesses and area offices. That’s why the on-air programming of this radio station was limited to the block programming between 10:00 pm and sign off of AM. Crystal Radio Group (current owner of the WPDH radio station) purchased WALL and WKOJ from Rockland Utilities and Orange in 1994.
